  Job Description

Come invent the future. At Reality Labs, sensor and camera testing and characterization is vital to turbocharging our scientific explorations and generating viable paths to the consumer products people will use for decades to come — products that will literally give people super powers. If you're a test and verification expert with an aptitude for building, troubleshooting, and evaluating prototype hardware, you'll thrive in our collaborative environment.

  • Draft clear summary characterization reports for analysis by researchers across many disciplines
  • Work with and co-design mechanical and optical fixtures for prototype hardware and test equipment
  • Work with unfamiliar hardware to evaluate performance of various systems and algorithms
  • Analyze, evaluate, debug, test, and characterize realtime AR and VR sensors for advanced prototypes and user experiences
  • Join a world-class team of pioneers experimenting with cutting edge sensors, imaging and depth sensing technology. Partner with expert research scientists, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and computer vision researchers to build and evaluate prototypes. Step into the adventure of a lifetime, as we make science fiction real and change the world.
  • Draft and execute sensor, camera, and depth camera data collection and characterization protocols
  • Use, program, and maintain a sophisticated array of automated data collection tools, including robotic arms, mechanical rails, rotation stages, lighting controls, and more
  • Use tools such as MATLAB and Python to perform data analysis, and use internal systems to archive datasets
  • Learn constantly, educate others, dive into new areas with unfamiliar technologies, and embrace the ambiguity of AR/VR problem solving

Skills:
  • Deep problem solving and hardware troubleshooting skills
  • 3+ years recent programming or scripting experience (e.g. MATLAB, python, or similar)
  • Baseline Requirements
  • 3+ years experience working directly with hardware systems such as cameras, sensors, imaging devices, medical devices, gaming consoles, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience working across disciplines to drive optimal solutions

Additional Desired Skills
Candidates with experience in any of the following areas are highly desired:
Robotics and automation
Data analysis
Image processing
Computer vision
Depth cameras
