  Job Description

  • A seasoned data engineering consultant is needed to design, develop and deliver high quality data migrations and data integrations for scientific research capabilities.
  • This includes reagent inventory and ordering application and other scientific systems.
  • A successful candidate must have strong independent data engineering and advanced SQL development skills but also be able to contribute significantly to analysis, prototype and design activities.
  • The ability to thrive in an agile iterative and highly collaborative team environment is a must.
  • Advanced expertise in data analysis, data engineering, data query, data integration and data migration
  • 8+ years’ technical experience in database development using Oracle, PL/SQL and SQL performance tuning
  • Experience in creating mapping using disparate data sources such as flat files, excels, databases, xml files and/or unstructured data & web services
  • Extensive experience with analyzing and designing data models, SQLs, and PL/SQLs
  • Development experience with AWS, RDS, S3, EC2 and Lambda
  • Strong data profiling and data quality technical skills.
  • Strong hand on skills in Unix Shell/Perl scripting
  • Good understanding of Data Partitioning, Speed Optimization, Table Structures
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and as a key contributor in a distributed team environment
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to think outside the box to come up with innovative ideas
  • Bachelor’s Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Advanced degree preferred. Biopharmaceutical R&D
  • Create applications from detailed specifications using specified programming language(s)
  • Code, test, debug, document and maintain programs
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Front end development (GUI interfaces) utilizing ODBC to connect to any Open Architecture RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) – such as Oracle and Sybase
  • Analyzes application requirements and provides recommended design
  • Create detailed project outlines and application design specifications
  • Quality reviews of code developed by other development staff
  • Develops test plans
  • Designs for more complex integration with other applications/technologies
  • Responsible for leading a team of developers and managing to project timelines/deliverables
  • Assist senior developers with project outlines and specifications
  • Technical and business analysis for SAP BW data warehouse on a UNIX platform
  • Data warehousing experience
  • Good structured design and development skills in the areas of database packages, functions, stored procedures, exception handling and batch job scheduling
  • An understanding of complex data transformation from multiple sources would be a plus
  • Systems knowledge in the areas of Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Sales Reporting would be a plus
  • Primary and Secondary Technical Requirements: ‘Hands On’ Unix
  • 7 years exp. using PLSQL
  • 5 years exp. using Unix Scripting and Oracle
  • 1 year exp. using XSLT, XML, HTML
  • 2 years exp. using JAVA
  • 1-2 years Informatica, PVCS and Proc*C is a plus
