  Job Description

Working independently, the Library Services Manager, Medical Information conducts expert information research and provides other library services to internal clients. Routine responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting advanced technical searches by identifying, analyzing, synthesizing, and delivering published literature and data to Medical Affairs, R&D, Clinical Development, and/or Marketing/Commercial functions
  • Developing and maintaining a deep knowledge of products, diseases or competitor knowledge for assigned therapeutic area, region or functional group
  • Providing library services to other departments before and/or during regulatory inspections and annual updates to regulatory agencies
  • Providing guidance to other Library & Information Services team members to enhance their online searching skills
  • Recommending strategies to address unmet client needs for training, client engagement and outreach
  • Assessing and aligning corporate external content offerings
  • Developing tactics to support departmental strategic initiatives
  • Assisting in the development or update of specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Managing content suppliers
  • Managing employees or contingent workers
Knowledge/Skills
  • Expert-level knowledge of licensed databases and systems is required
    • Experience with Ovid, Medline, Embase, TrialTrove, Pharmaprojects, the Cortellis suite of databases
  • Comprehensive knowledge of therapeutic areas in such as Oncology, Immunology, Infectious Disease
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable SOPs and regulatory requirements for Drug Safety Adverse Event reporting in the pharmaceutical environment
  • Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining good working relationships with internal departments and external contacts
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent project management and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work under limited direction
  • Must be both a generalist online searcher with excellent skills in searching diverse subject areas including medicine, biology, basic chemistry, and business as well as specialized expertise for the therapeutic areas, departments or functions supported
Education and Experience
  • MS/MA and 6 years or BS/BA and 8 years of relevant experience
  • Advanced scientific degree (MLS, MLIS, MS, Pharmacy, PhD) with a minimum of 6 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is preferred
