  Job Description

Role summary:

  • The role will ensure adherence to change management and regulatory procedures including governing the creation of operational procedures and system qualifications.
  • Support application environments in virtual computing environments, distributed computing, burst computing, and analytical platforms for scientific data.
  • Automate configuration scripts, setup monitoring with tools like Nagios XI and Splunk. Use configuration management tools such as Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, and Chef.
  • The role is responsible for supporting High Performance Computing platforms and applications for Scientific Computing environments. Systems engineering and technologies to enable, optimize and enhance high performance computing business capabilities for R&D applications and workflows.
  • Responsibilities include installation, upgrade, and configuration of Linux based high performance compute nodes, scientific workstations, and configuration of systems and networking services for hybrid computing platforms.
  • Support Univa Grid Engine scheduler software to ensure optimal throughput of the HPC grid as well as Univa Navops Launch software for bursting workloads to the cloud.
  • The role will be responsible for aligning with enterprise wide architectures. Role requires resource to be onsite 90% of the time.
  • This role requires direct communication with the scientific community and documentation using Confluence and task management using Jira.

Required skills & experience:

Must have skills:
  • Experience with job schedulers, grid, and burst computing.
  • Experience with Amazon Cloud services (EC2, Storage) and Infrastructure-as-a Service
  • Advanced experience (5+ years) with Linux is required.
  • Experience in server installation & configuration.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and frameworks.

Preferred skills:
  • Experience with automation and scripting of system workflows using Linux shell, Perl, Python is required.
  • Experience with configuration management tools – Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
  • Working knowledge of Agile principles.
  • Experience with scientific applications is preferred.

Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in Pharmaceuticals and/or Healthcare IT preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience with IT asset management and compliance using enterprise CMDBs and change control
  • Collaboratively interact with leadership and multiple stakeholders across the IT organization.
Must Have Skills:
