  Job Description

  • Seeking a highly motivated individual with direct experience in next generation sequencing (NGS) to the Inflammation CV and Fibrosis Sequencing Research Group (ICF SRG) at company’s Lawrenceville site.
  • The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the NGS activities within SRG, support project tracking through external vendors, and contribute to ongoing technology development activities as needed.
  • The ideal candidate should have a bachelor degree in a life science field with at least 4 years of direct experience in NGS operations or a Master’s degree with 2 or more years of direct NGS experience.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Be well organized with attention to details and can also multitask.
  • Has the ability to learn quickly and is comfortable adapting to a new platform or new priority.
  • Must have prior hands on experiences in basic molecular biology procedures, such as nucleic acid extractions, NGS library preparation protocols, and quantification.
  • Familiarity to lab automation and LIM systems preferred.
  • Strong communication and MS Office suite skills required.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and perform NGS operation and maintenance for sequencers and robotic systems as needed.
  • Play a lead role with lab organization, freezer/refrigerator cleanup and organization, purchasing and organization of supplies, etc.
  • Work independently and/or in collaboration with other team members on new assay and protocol development.
  • Independently perform diverse methods for the extraction, purification and quantification of DNA and RNA from cells and archival tissues.
  • Prepare and able to troubleshoot on NGS library constructions for bulk DNA & RNA samples and single cell analyses.
  • Maintain an accurate and complete laboratory notebook and other records as needed.
  • Support tracking of projects with external vendors when needed.
  • Contribute to ongoing scientific discussions and prepare regular updates on projects.
  • Enter data into company databases and data storage files.
  • Develop and edit protocols and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform a wide variety of basic molecular biology techniques with minimal supervision.
