Research Associate – Biology/Neuroscience


Client is seeking a talented and motivated individual who is passionate about joining a world-class group of scientists in the pursuit of innovative therapies within the center located at our San Diego site.


We are seeking an initial 12 month contract for a research associate position. The successful candidate will be skilled in the art of protein detection and analysis and familiar with new analytical technologies such as the ProteinSimple Wes/Jess, and must be comfortable with assay development, troubleshooting experimental procedures, and data analysis. The successful candidate should also be proficient in cell culture techniques. Good communication skills and strong teamwork spirit are required.


Job Responsibilities


The primary roles are to set up and operate laboratory equipment, prepare materials, perform experimental procedures, record and consolidate research data, and execute planned research activities using analytical techniques.

The specific function include isolation, detection and quantification of proteins of interest from cells and tissues.


He/she will need to optimize detection conditions for various protein targets of interest and perform measurement and quantification. He/she will characterize proteins of interest using biochemical and molecular approaches.




B.S. or M.S. in biology/biochemistry/neuroscience with 2+ years of pharmaceutical industrial experience in protein detection and analysis.


A strong commitment to experimental work and knowledge of the drug discovery process.


Experience with protein analysis methods including SDS-PAGE, western blotting, and spectrophotometry is required preferably with experience with chemiluminescence or fluorescence based protein detection techniques such as simple western analysis using Wes/Jess systems.

Experience with tissue culture techniques.

The candidate must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a highly matrixed team-oriented environment.

Strong written and oral communication skills, with the desire to present scientific findings and data to broader teams.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and GraphPad Prism is required.
