Product Designer – Job Description (1106)

 

Our location in Lake County, IL currently has an opportunity for a Product Designer as part of our NAVICA program. As a product designer you will be responsible for the full product design lifecycle, from owning ideation, research, and creating the product/design vision to implementation.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Brainstorm and collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, and UX Researchers to understand, identify, and take on complex business requirements and user needs
  • Work across the design lifecycle following the user-centered design workflow that comprises: design, prototyping, presentation, sharing and soliciting feedback, influencing key decision-makers, and collaborative handoffs with developers.
    • Create design concepts and drawings to determine the best product
    • Present product ideas to relevant team members for brainstorming
    • Employ design concepts into functional prototypes
    • Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for multiple devices
  • Leverage design and research methodologies, for running quantitative and qualitative research, such as usability testing, analysis, interviews, and field studies.
    • Perform research on product technologies and structures to implement into design concepts
    • Maintain up to date on current industry trends and market conditions
    • Watch consumer trends to identify desirable product traits
    • Use data collected from research, user testing and market analysis to create user-centric designs
    • Define hero experience requirements and priorities with cross-functional product teams
  • Solicit and provide feedback on design ideas, prototypes and overall design         
    • Modify and revise existing designs to meet customer expectations
    • Suggest improvements to design and performance to product engineers
    • Modify products in accordance with feedback from users and test groups
  • Design compliance and standards
    • Ensure compliance with brand experience methodology, guidelines, process and workflows
    • Coordinate with designers to ensure accurate communication and efficiency in the design phase
    • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation including specifications and style guides
    • Serve as a liaison between the commercial, regulatory and legal teams in getting the design/ copy changes completed
  • Collaborate with engineers for design to build and enhance the experience
    • Partner with product team members create/review stories
    • Test the production environment from UX and UI perspective, mitigate bugs with dev team
    • Reduce Product Development time via ensuring right design dev handoff process and working with Dev teams closely to proactively notify on UX/UI bugs in early stages of development
    • Conduct design-dev pairing to ensure design is build as expected
    • Use UX tools and analytics to evaluate UX design strengths and weaknesses post-deployment and document findings

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/ Master’s Degree preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field is required.
  • Experience of working on a product team, communicating with developers and product managers, with understanding of user-centered design and of UX concepts (previous working experience as Product Designer).
  • 8+ years of experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of design tools and product development platforms: Sketch, Figma, Axure, Invision, JIRA, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Problem Solver – You have ability to solve problems with creative thinking and design while making the experience seamless
  • Strong Communicator. You convey information clearly and simply, in a way that means things are understood and get done, as comfortable with sociology as they are with statistics.
  • Attention to Detail. You are willing to dive deep into customer pain points to root cause issues while empowering your team to make daily decisions.
  • Initiative. You are a doctor and not a patient. You crave solving tough problems without prescriptive advice on how to get things done. Ensure proactive communications and leadership updates.
  • Creatively analytical, meaning, they must be out of the box thinkers who can also back up their ideas with hard research
  • Must be able to listen. They are very task oriented and organized. When it comes to research, have a can do and uncover hidden insights attitude
