Release Train Engineer

Could be wyman st Waltham or, Northboro or Worcester

Mainly remote but with the ability to be in Waltham or above location without travel expenses – if we go back to the office then the expectation is they will be in the office.

Description
  • The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART).
  • The RTE’s major responsibilities are to facilitate ART processes and execution.
  • As a servant leader the RTE facilitates program level processes and execution, escalates impediments, manages risk and helps drive program level continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Facilitates PI Planning readiness by preparing the vision and backlogs and through Pre- and Post-Planning meetings.
  • Facilitates the PI Planning event for the (ART).
  • Facilitates synchronization meetings, including Scrum of Scrums/PO synch or ART synch at the program level.
  • Works with Product Management, Product Owners and other stakeholders to ensure strategy and execution alignment.
  • Aggregates Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publishes them for visibility and transparency.
  • Facilitates the ROAMing of risks.
  • Encourages the collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects, Engineering and UX.
  • Assists with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation.
  • Tracks and escalates impediments, manages risks and dependencies.
  • Participates in Lean-Agile transformation, coaching leaders, teams and Scrum Masters in the new processes and mindsets.
  • The RTE serves the Scrum Master community as the primary escalation contact and is ready to do whatever is necessary to keep the ART rolling.
  • RTEs help adapt SAFe to the organization, standardizing and documenting practices.
  • The RTE also identifies new training needs for teams and collaborates with coaches, and Delivery Heads in order to fulfill the need.
  • Manages and optimizes the flow of value through the program using various tools such as Kanbans and information radiators (BVIRs).
  • Drives continuous improvement via Inspect & Adapt (I&A) workshops.
  • Understands and operates within the ART budget.
  • Accountable for ensuring commitments are met on small to medium size ARTs (ART size between 50-70 people).

Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience as a project manager/program manager/Scrum Master with dedicated agile teams using scrum/SAFe
  • Expert knowledge of Agile Lifecycle Management tools, particularly JIRA and Jira Align
  • Understanding of the business value of development decisions and how they affect the lifecycle of the product
  • Solid understanding of scaling Lean and Agile and understands the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development program.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Relevant undergraduate BA, BS degree in IT or Business or equivalent experience; Advanced degree in IT or business preferred
  • Current SAFe RTE or equivalent certification, PMI-PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM) preferred.
