Fully Remote - USA Based

Job Description / Requirements:

  • We are seeking to hire an environmental specialist for a 1-year assignment to drive the operational deliverables associated with sustainable design initiatives within Chemical Research and Development.
  • The individual will work directly with the members of the Green Chemistry team and project leaders to carry out various metrics analysis and align on future operational and implementation plans.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, build agendas (with strategic lead’s input), and contribute or present data to green chemistry and project team meetings
  • Interface with external environmental consultants to ensure their delivery of a database of material impact factors and metrics
  • Liaise with the company’s internal subject matter experts to obtain information on synthetic routes and material procurement to assess PMI and LCA metrics
  • Test and refine carbon footprint calculator with assistance of company’s informatics experts
  • Research external landscape for approaches to environmental impact reduction and calculations for drug substance
  • Maintain Teams space documentation and prepare regular updates to the Green Chemistry team and strategy leaders

Education:

  • BS/MS degree in Environmental Science (or relevant engineering/science field)
  • 0-2 years of experience calculating and analyzing metrics

Skills:

  • Experience with pharma/chemical/polymer industry preferred
  • Experience with project coordination
  • Works independently, with periodic guidance from strategy leaders
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Proficient in office computer software (i.e. Microsoft office suite)
